Bleh – I made the mistake of seeing how Jennifer Marohasy’s “community” is going these days. It’s a fascinating little ecosystem on that site.
Apparently, Dr Roy Spencer is being censored – he had two papers rejected and the Amazon reviews of his book have been removed. No link, no further information. But apparently the only explanation for rejection of an academic paper is censorship – why, the journal (Geophysical Research Letters) receives nearly 4000 submissions per year but publishes less than 2000, so they are censoring more than half of the debate!
The Amazon reviews have indeed vanished – here is the current page, while the Google cache at time of writing shows 78 reviews. I will be interested to find out what the explanation is, but what vested interest would Amazon have in removing what appeared to be largely positive reviews for a book? Are they somehow part of a vast global warming conspiracy? A plausible alternative might be that they were concerned that the integrity of their review system had been violated (e.g., maybe there was some concern about sock-puppet reviews). But we shall see.
Meanwhile, it’s nice to see that the community of tolerance and respect that Dr Marohasy strives so hard for is thriving:
Now crawl back under your rock, the slime mould is getting lonely.
UPDATE: Censorship overcome – the Amazon reviews are back online. Wasn’t that exciting?
