Honeymoon over

A special Morgan phone poll finds that the Turnbull Opposition trails the Rudd Government 57-43 on a 2PP basis. The pollsters claim that the higher disapproval rating for Rudd than Turnbull is a concern, but it hardly seems surprising that the existing PM has fewer undecideds than a brand new opponent – even one with a pre-existing reputation such as Malcolm.

A few polls have been released in recent days, with the switch to Malcolm giving the appearance of a bump for the Opposition. Newspoll has it at 55-45; ACNielsen 52-48; and Essential Research (on a two-week moving average, so there is still a week of Brendan) at 57-43 2PP.
